The Universidad Domínico Americano (UNICDA) and the organization SOS Carbon have recently signed a collaboration agreement with the objective of promoting sustainability and research in the development of cost-effective technologies and procedures to address environmental challenges, generating value chains and a direct social impact in the communities of the Dominican Republic.
This collaboration agreement aims to promote joint practical and academic experiences in the development of higher education in the Dominican Republic. With various initiatives that will emerge from this agreement, UNICDA, through its Innovation Unit, seeks to contribute to the social and economic progress of the country.
SOS Carbon, stemming from a research and development project of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), seeks to provide solutions for a sustainable environment, tourism and social prosperity. One of its missions is to transform sargassum into a growth opportunity for coastal communities and new industries.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Ramón Sosa, Rector of UNICDA, and Eng. Andrés Bisonó León, CEO of SOS Carbon. Also participating were UNICDA’s Academic Vice Rector, Dr. Laura Reyes, the Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, Michael Moore, and the Coordinator of Educational Innovation, Koral Núñez.
